The city of Macon is mourning the sudden and tragic loss of 36-year-old Robert Jackson, who died following a devastating traffic collision on Bass Road Monday morning. His passing has left family members, friends, and the wider community in shock as they come to terms with the loss of a life cut short unexpectedly.

According to local authorities, the fatal crash occurred near Snows Memorial Chapel in the 1400 block of Bass Road. Investigators reported that Jackson was driving a Chevrolet GMT 3500 utility truck when he encountered a red sedan that had stopped while attempting to turn onto Westchester Drive.

In an effort to avoid a collision, Jackson reportedly swerved into the opposite lane of traffic. His vehicle then collided head-on with an oncoming Peterbilt 358 commercial truck. The impact caused the utility truck to overturn, resulting in catastrophic damage at the scene.

Emergency responders arrived quickly and provided immediate assistance. Despite their efforts, Robert Jackson was pronounced deceased at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. The driver of the commercial truck, a 62-year-old man, sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
